The Round Table – January 18, 2013

by Jon Dulin

Round TableAnother week gone by. I’m looking forward to some (hopefully) more great football this weekend. I am also going to start getting all of things together for my taxes. I have a folder where I put all of my papers as I go through the year, so I need to organize that a little and start getting an idea of what 1099’s I expect to receive. I’ve already received one 1099 and my W2. As with prior years, I plan to to my own taxes with Turbo Tax. I’m a little hesitant this year though since it’s my first year having a rental. I am going to give Turbo Tax a shot and if it feels too overwhelming trying to figure things out, I’ll head out to a real live CPA. Just a quick reminder that the $1,000 giveaway is still going strong so if you haven’t entered, be sure to do so! Enough about me, onto the posts!

Thanks much for the mention! We started using a CPA last year. I had always done our own taxes, but with running our own business now there are just too many moving parts I do not want to mess up on.

I feel that I am heading down that road myself. I actually enjoy doing my own taxes too. I know, I’m weird!

We are getting all amped up for tax season as well. I used to go to a tax consultant but the boy swears by Turbo Tax. C’mon W2’S!

The only thing that frustrates me is that my broker doesn’t send out their 1099’s until the 2nd week of February. I have everything ready to go, and I just sit around waiting for that one last item!
